Music man: Getting ready for his close-up, Gordon Getty and his wife, Ann Getty, host a musical version of "dinner and a movie" this week. Music aficionados will receive sneak previews of PentaTone Classics' "Songs by American Composers" project. One features works by composers such as Getty, Jake Heggie and William Bolcom; the other features artists (such as tenor Francisco Araiza, soprano Lisa Delan and pianist Kristin Pankonin) performing works by composer David Garner. Both the record label and the artists waived or reduced their usual fees for the project, which was recorded at Skywalker Ranch last fall. As such, the nonprofit Future Music organization hopes to induce potential supporters to hand over some high C-notes so the recordings can become reality on CDs. Bonus? Documentary filmmaker Peter Rosen will screen a few minutes of his work-in-progress starring Gordon Getty, composer. Tah-dah!
